Quick Vocabulary Handbook (Levels 7-9) - Vol 2 - (HSK 3.0)

Part II of Volume 7–9 of Chinese Proficiency Grading Standards for International Chinese Language Education: Quick Vocabulary Guide. Together with Part I, they contain 5,636 Chinese words at advanced levels 7–9.

This book is part of a series that is useful both as preparatory material for the official HSK 3.0 Chinese language exam and for self-learners wishing to improve their vocabulary and fluency in using the words.

In the series, the elementary-level books (volumes 1, 2, and 3) and intermediate-level books (volumes 4, 5, and 6) contain 20 words per lesson. In the advanced-level books (divided into two parts: levels 7–9 I and levels 7–9 II), 60 words are covered per lesson.

The methodology is very similar throughout the collection: each word is presented in Hanzi, its Pinyin transcription, its English translation, and short sentences illustrating the most common uses of each word. Each word is then practised through a range of exercises designed to help learners memorise the word, its pronunciation and definition, its meaning, and to distinguish it from similar words that might cause confusion. Furthermore, the advanced-level books include a QR code to provide students with more detailed explanations of the meaning and usage of particularly complex words. The descriptions of each practical exercise are also provided in English as well as Chinese, which can be particularly helpful for students who are just starting out with the language.
