It is part of the Integrated Chinese, 4th Edition series, which consists of four volumes: this is Volume 2, the direct continuation of Volume 1. Each volume is complemented by a Workbook and a Character Workbook, sold separately.

• Recommended level: advanced beginner. It is intended for learners who have completed Volume 1 (around 300 words, pinyin and tones already covered). Approximate equivalence: it starts from an HSK 1-2 level and reaches a level close to HSK 3, adding around 300 new words for a cumulative vocabulary of about 600. The series is not built around the HSK syllabus, so this correspondence is indicative and based on the amount of vocabulary and grammar covered.
