Discover China Workbook 3 (走遍中国 · Workbook 3) is the workbook for level 3 of Discover China, the Mandarin Chinese course co-developed and co-published by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press and Macmillan Publishers. The four-level series is designed for young adults and adults studying Chinese in English-speaking settings and follows a communicative approach: language is practised in real-life contexts, through pair and group work and a wide range of speaking and listening activities. This volume extends and consolidates the Student's Book 3 material unit by unit, with instructions in Chinese and English.

• Level: 3 (intermediate). This is the third of the course's four levels and the natural next step for learners who already handle everyday exchanges and want to move towards a fuller use of the language: recounting what happened, explaining the reasons behind a decision, expressing preferences and holding a conversation on familiar topics.
• Learning features:
  • Communicative approach: activities are built around everyday, authentic-like situations so learners gain confidence in speaking.
  • Inductive grammar: rather than stating rules outright, the material presents language samples so students spot the pattern and work out the rule.
  • Topic-based vocabulary: words are grouped by theme and practised through targeted and extension exercises.
  • Character writing: writing practice focuses on the most frequently used characters, always within the unit's theme.
  • Companion to the student's book: the twelve units follow the order and topics of Student's Book 3, so it works equally as classroom homework or independent study.
