Discover China Workbook 4 (走遍中国 · Workbook 4) is the workbook for level 4, the final stage of Discover China, the Mandarin Chinese course co-developed and co-published by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press and Macmillan Publishers. It accompanies Student's Book 4 and closes the series with twelve units set in work, travel and everyday situations in China, with instructions in Chinese and English.

• Level: 4 (upper intermediate). This is the last of the course's four levels, aimed at learners who already converse comfortably on familiar matters and need to cope in more demanding contexts: making a case and qualifying it, handling or making a complaint, adjusting register for formal situations and taking part in longer conversations about work, travel or daily life in China.
• Learning features:
  • Communicative approach: tasks reproduce plausible exchanges — a job interview, a customer complaint, a trip — and prioritise real language use.
  • Inductive grammar: learners work out structures from language samples instead of memorising given rules.
  • Topic-based vocabulary and extension: each unit reinforces the student's book lexis and widens it with further exercises.
  • Character writing: practice focuses on the most frequent characters within the unit's theme.
  • Rounding off the course: as the final level, it consolidates the work of the three previous volumes.
