Action! China - A Field Guide to Using Chinese in the Community es una guía dirigida a los profesores para que activen las habilidades comunicativas de los alumnos de nivel intermedio. Para ello se valen de dos tipos de actividades: Field Performance y Watch Performance.
En Field Performance los estudiantes tienen que realizar una serie de tareas en un campo específico de acción. Por ejemplo, coger un autobús en China, fijarse en la información de la parada, preguntar por los bonos de autobús y, finalmente, entablar una conversación con un amigo sobre la conveniencia de tomar un autobús u otro, el precio, etc. Tras realizar estos cometidos, el alumno contará la experiencia y el profesor evaluará cómo se ha expresado.
En cuanto a Watch Performance consiste en observar bien una situación en la que dos o más personas chinas se están comunicando. La idea es que los alumnos sean capaces de entender y explicar la situación al profesor.
En el planteamiento y la interacción en estos escenarios de la vida corriente china, el alumno no solo adquiere vocabulario y fluidez verbal, sino una comprensión más profunda de la cultura china.
En el enlace que se encuentra al comienzo de esta ficha, el profesor encontrará un vídeo de demostración de un alumno contando una Field Perfomance y una Performance Watch, así como un ejemplo de las valoraciones que un profesor puede hacer de estas dos actividades.
Al final del libro, los profesores nativos de chino encontrarán las actividades escritas en chino, además, de dos anexos más con ideas y preguntas de las Performance Watch.
